Debt Recovery

We are a provincially licensed collection agency under the Ministry of Consumer and Corporate Affairs, offering collection and small claims court services.

Our training program for our recovery team that includes basic knowledge of small claims and court procedures, bankruptcy law, commercial debt, third party confidentiality, and credit management. Our paralegal on staff also is consulted by our team for unusual circumstances.

Our recovery team contacts and informs all debtors of the action scheduled to be taken against themselves, and should they fail to resolve their account with us in reasonable, timely fashion, we follow through on that action. Also, if a debtor refuses to take care of their account, and the debt remains outstanding after action has been taken, the file will not be closed. Our review desk will reopen the file 60-90 days later, and the entire process will begin again, until the account is collected.

There is no such thing as a mailing queue in our office. Every single file will receive attention from a recovery officer, and every debtor will be contacted by telephone if they can be located. We believe letters and written notice should supplement our staff, not the opposite.

If there are any legal concerns given an account, our staff paralegal or lawyer will advise us on the best course of action.

In the past three years, we have built an impeccable reputation for being professional, effective, and thorough. We have grown to serve our clients nationally. We are broadening our scope to include other aspects of the billing and recovery process - we are no ordinary collection agency.

We currently specialize in the service industry, credit services, government, and professional industry groups. Our staff is experienced and trained in professional and effective collection methods that meet the Collection Agencies Act of Ontario. Our company employees represent 50 years of experience in the credit and collections field.

We welcome you to list your problem accounts with us via pickup by our sales staff, by telephone, by fax, or by e-mail. If you have any questions prior to listing, our sales staff would be glad to answer your questions.

Commercial Affairs Division

For our national and commercial clients, debt recovery works slightly differently. We have specific sliding commission rates to apply to higher balance accounts, and our Commercial Affairs Division handles recovery of these balances. Should any company refuse to remit on these accounts, we immediately investigate the benefit of legal action and report our findings to our client.

Tracing

Our tracing department has access to the Teledirect Database, the Vernon's Directories, Tax Rolls, and Telephone Books from across the country. These tools allow them to quickly locate skip-trace accounts for our recovery team.

As well, every new file listed with our office is cross-referenced against all existing accounts listed in our database for matching telephone numbers, addresses, names, and social insurance numbers. This allows us to immediately flag repeat debtors.

Collection Rates

Our company charges no advance fees nor does it charge for uncollected accounts listed for recovery by our debt recovery team. We only benefit from our success on your behalf.

The creditor/client assigns the listed/attached accounts with the understanding that they are correct and legally due, and empowers Inter Canada Credit to collect or adjust them accordingly.

Our standard commission fee on retail collections is 33.33% on files listed. Fees on listed outstanding property returned is 10% of the property's listed cash value. On files listed that are collected through legal services the fee remains the same, however there may be legal costs assigned by the court that will be passed on to the client.

Our company will release any account in process of collection or adjustment upon request, as long as there is no action occurring.

Invoicing & Reports

Each month our clients will receive a statement from our office outlining our collection activity on their behalf. The cover sheet will summarize activity for that month, and show our overall liquidation to date. There will be a detailed statement showing every transaction occurring in that billing month, and there will be an inventory report provided listing all accounts filed with us to date, and their current disposition.

Objectives

It is our intent to manage our debt recovery team to specialize in various industry groups, to allow us to track problem individuals more readily as they repeat debt situations with other companies offering the same services. We will also refine our methods to each industry group to maximize our liquidation potential.

We wish to offer our clients the highest liquidation rate possible, and will measure our performance against ourselves, our competition, and the industry group as a whole.

In accordance with the Collection Agencies Act, all problem accounts listed shall receive written notice that they have been placed in third party collections. In telephone contact, all files will consistently be treated in a firm, polite, and professional manner. Confidentiality will be maintained regarding the debt. We will maintain our client's integrity while pursuing their receivables.

Resources

We use a tailored database that operates in a Windows-95 environment. It tracks all debtors, schedules them for follow up calls, and monitors collection activity.

Reports can be generated from this database reflecting liquidation habits, inventory reports, listing confirmations, general disposition of client files, etc. If a specific report is required, a tailored report can be generated upon request, for the benefit of our recovery team or our clients.

If a file cannot be collected within a given time frame, our system automatically downloads their file to the credit bureau, and maintains it on a monthly basis until it is paid.

We are capable of tracking compound interest charges at a rate assigned by the client on any account. The new balance is calculated daily.

If you require a specific report not provided, upon request of our Sales Department, our company will arrange for any special needs. In the event that files can be listed in an electronic manner, our consulting staff would be glad to assist.
